Halftime Report

Virginia Tech jumped up 14-0 on the Tennessee Volunteers. But, after some clutch throws from Jonathan Crompton to Denarious Moore and Gerald Jones, the Vols were able to creep back into this game. UT RB Montario Hardesty turned what should have been lost yardage into a remarkable 4 yard touchdown run with 6:23 left in the second quarter.

VT QB Tyrod Taylor took off for 21 yards on 3rd and 12, down to the UT 31. With 1:31 left in 2nd quarter, Taylor was sacked by Rico McCoy and Dan Williams of UT. Thus, bringing up another 3rd and long for the Hokies. Janzen Jackson intercepted a pass from Taylor on 3rd and 19 with 1:11 left before halftime. Montario Hardesty then took a screen pass to the 1 yard line of VT. That was a great call by UT. Hardesty got stuffed on 1st and goal. Then, Denarious Moore caught a 2 yard touchdown pass with 18 seconds left in 2nd quarter.

VT responded by launching a Hail Mary. The Hokies gained 64 yards on the long pass, but WR Jerious Boykin was stopped on the 4 yard line as time appeared to have expired. After a review, 2 seconds were placed on the clock. VT called timeout and place kicker Matt Waldron hit a 21 yard FG.

At the half, it is Tennessee 14 Virginia Tech 17.
