Bowlin' in the SEC

This Sunday, Kentucky becomes the first of 10 SEC teams to go bowling. The 7-5 Wildcats will take on the 8-5 Clemson Tigers. Kickoff for the Music City Bowl is set for 8:30 ET on ESPN and ESPN360.com. Kats can't contain C.J. Spiller. Clemson wins 34-21.

On Monday, the 7-5 Georgia Bulldogs battle 6-6 Texas A&M in the Independence Bowl, played in glorious Shreveport Louisiana. The game will be shown on ESPN2 and ESPN360.com at 5:00 ET. The Aggies boast a stellar offensive attack, but the Dawgs have discovered their running shoes. Georgia wins by 10.

Frank Beamer's 9-3 VT Hokies take on the 7-5 Volunteers on Thursday Dec 31 in the Chic-Fil-A Bowl. The game can be seen on ESPN at 7:30 ET. Tennessee trashes VT.

On New Year's Day, things begin to heat up in the SEC. In an early bird special, 7-5 Auburn faces the 8-4 Northwestern Wildcats in the Outback Bowl. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 AM ET on ESPN and ESPN360.com. Auburn 31 Northwestern 17.

A couple hours after the Outback Bowl gets going, you can watch the 9-3 LSU Tigers lose to 10-2 Penn State in the Capital One Bowl. This one starts at 1:00 ET on ABC.

Later on, tune your TV set to Fox. Tim Tebow's 12-1 Florida Gators face the 12-0 Cincinnati Bearcats in the Sugar Bowl at 8:30 ET. UF wins 42-14.

On Saturday, January 2nd, Spurrier leads his 7-5 Gamecocks to a Papajohns.com Bowl matchup with the 7-5 Connecticut Huskies. Kickoff is set for 2 ET on ESPN and ESPN360.com. Sloth Carolina wins by 9.

Also at 2 ET, the 8-4 Ole Miss Rebels take on 9-3 Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl. There's a bit of conference pride on the line in this one. After defeating UGA 24-10 on September 5th, the Cowboys can go 2-0 vs the SEC with a win. The only problem is, they've got no chance at stopping the McCluster led attack of Ole Miss. Rebels crush Cowboys.

At 5:30 ET, you can see 7-5 Arkansas in action, as Petrino's Pigs face the 9-4 Pirates of ECU in the Liberty Bowl on ESPN and ESPN360.com. Hogs run wild.

On Thursday, January 7, the undefeated Crimson Tide face a likewise undefeated Texas Longhorns squad to determine the undisputed champion of college football. Kickoff is set for 8:00 ET on ABC. Who is gonna take home that heralded crystal football?

My Picks:

I'm predicting the SEC goes 10-0 in the 2009 bowls. With the only upset lookout being kentucky.

Kentucky over Clemson setting the pace for the SEC showing their dominace in the 2009 season.

Georgia over Taxas A&M
(Rob, I was harrassed in Augusta, Georgia this morning by three kids that you would be proud of. I was wearing a UF warmup suit I have, and these three kids proceeded to yell "Go Dawgs" and "Boo" me as I was walking past their car. I found it funny and immediately thought about how proud they would have made you)

Tenn, LSU, Auburn, Sloth Carolina, and Arkansas win convincingly as long as they show up ready to play.

Ole miss plays a tough one, but pulls it out the "W".

I of course picked UF to win, as they are my team, however, I do not think it will be a blow out. Our offense still has not found themselves, and have stumbled through the entire season in which it was finally exposed in the SEC championship. I predict our "D" carries us to another bowl win.

I crowned Alabama the national chapions when they won the SEC. Their defense will expose Texsas offense which is in my opinion similar to UF. They are both led by great quarterbacks, but spotty everywhere else.

850,
That is too funny. Can't believe they actually booed you. That's hilarious. You're a good sport, to take it in stride.

Hope I'm wrong on some picks. I'd love to see the SEC win all 10.

I've got the Meineke Car Care Bowl (UNC vs Pit) on in the background. I've seen a few turnovers and false starts. Announcers attribute this to the time off between bowl game and last regular season game.
Score is 13-10 Pitt at half.

850,
If that ever happens again, just signal for a timeout. Or, hold up a sheet of paper that reads
"41-17."

If you can make it to Atlanta during the NBA season, we should go catch a Hawks game. This time, we'll get our tickets before we head on over to Philips Arena.

Pit just made a 32 yd FG to take the lead 19-17 with 52 seconds left in the game.

UNC at their own 33 with 46 seconds left. Penalty on Pit moves ball to 40. Gotta root for Marietta's TJ Yates and the Tarheels.

Incomplete pass. 3rd and 10 after 2 incomplete passes from Yates.

Correction: the distance to go is 7 yards not 10. UNC gained 3 while I wasn't looking.

4th and 7 for Carolina. Pass complete for 1st down. 24 seconds left, clock stopped after spiked ball.

UNC near midfield. 4th and 10.

Game over. Yates' pass sailed over the intended receiver's head. As Bobby Bowden would say, "Dadgummit."

Pit runs out clock in "Victory Formation."

Oh well. Let's keep bowlin. BC takes on the real USC in just a matter of minutes on ESPN.

I'll look at the hawks schedule. I know dave would love to go up to a game as well. We'll have to make it happen.
