The Hawks (26-14) couldn't hit the broad side of the barn in their contest against the OKC Thunder on Martin Luther King Junior's birthday. But, with 4 scrawny seconds left, Jamal Crawford had a chance to send the game into OT. Unfortunately, his 3 point attempt clanked off the iron and Atlanta went down in defeat.
Tonight, the Hawks look to "right the ship" against a Sacramento squad that is just 15-25 on the year. Rookie PG Tyreke Evans has been sensational is his first NBA season. The kid from Memphis is averaging 20.5 PPG with 5 assist and 1.5 steals per game. Opening tip is just a few minutes away.

Atlanta trails 44-39. Sacramento just turned the ball over with 4 minutes left in second. Josh Smith just scored. Kings lead 44-41. Joe Johnson has 13 for Atlanta. Some dude named Jason Thompson just scored to put Sacramento up 5, but Horford answers. Kings turn ball over again. Atl down 3 with ball. Josh Smith to shoot FTs. Misses both. Lane violation gives Josh another shot. He makes it. Hawks on 11-2 run. 46-42 Sacramento with 2:31 left before half. Tech foul on Thompson.
Just saw the dunk of the year. With Josh Smith running the floor, Mike Bibby launched an alley oop pass to the high flier. Smith slammed the ball through traffic for a tremendous 2 points.
Al Horford blocked a shot at the buzzer and Atlanta leads 54-52 at the half. Joe Johnson leads the Hawks with 16 first half points.
Hawks lead 62-54 with 8:28 left in 3rd. Marvin Williams just clanked a 3pt attempt off the front iron. Terrible shot.

Here come the Kings. 72-64 Atlanta. Brockman will be at the line to attempt to complete a 3 pt play. Dude made a good steal, then raced down the floor and dunked, as Mario West commited a silly foul.
Brockman missed, then Hawes tipped rebound in. 4 point possession for Sacramento followed by a steal and another score.
74-68 Atlanta.
3 by Mo Evans! Huge shot. 77-68 Hawks. Evans strikes again. Great dunk in transition for Atlanta. Hawks have ball and lead 79-68. Check that. Pachulia scores to give Atlanta 81-68 lead. Sacramento turns ball over. 3 by Jamal Crawford at buzzer misses. But Hawks go on 9-0 run and lead 81-68 entering 4th quarter.
Looks like the Hawks have this one in the bag. With 3:47 left in 4th, Atlanta leads 99-88. Tyreke Evans has 21 for Sacramento.
