Puckett

Just wanted to say congratulations to Benjamin Puckett. The former Osborne High School star was recently granted a scholarship from Jacksonville State University. Puckett began his Gamecock career as a walk on in 2008 and was red-shirted during his first season in Alabama. In the spring and summer of 2009, he made a lasting impression on his JSU coaches. Following a stellar performance in the Spring Game (which included a sack and 3 QB pressures), Benjamin vaulted from ninth to third on the depth chart.

While in High School, Coach Troy Jones used to tell Benjamin to simply "Do the Puckett." Translation: Get into the backfield and destroy anyone brave enough to carry the ball. And, he did that quite often. From his rover position, Benjamin recorded over 300 tackles and 35 sacks.

Benjamin Puckett is more than a promising young athlete on the football field. He is someone that I am proud to know. #53, I can't wait to see you sack the Jackets on September 5th. Go Gamecocks!
